Standing work in the laboratory

Regardless of the field, working in a laboratory often involves standing. The work carried out in a laboratory is seldom static; employees are often required to work at various stations - often several at the same time. Laboratory employees need to be able to move around without restriction. They need to be able to stand up quickly, as well as use concentrated, fine motor skills. At many stations in the laboratory, extended periods of standing are increasingly becoming the norm. Yet protracted standing places a strain on the body.

Ideally supported when working in the laboratory - with suitable standing aids

Many tasks carried out in laboratories are simply more suited to standing work. Quick pipetting, for example, is generally carried out at a high table. In many cases, an employee would be far too restricted carrying out this work from a seated position. However, standing for prolonged periods is exhausting and places strain on the body. This is why standing work, without the use of any standing aids, is responsible for a variety of illnesses affecting everything from the cardiovascular system to the musculoskeletal system. A good standing aid can really be of assistance here. It helps the spine maintain an ergonomically correct position and relieves any strain experienced by the employee - without restricting the work itself. In fact, ideally, the standing aid can be flexibly moved in all directions and allows for the necessary freedom of movement. A compact design also saves on space and allows you to carry it from one work station to another.

Special solutions for standing work in the laboratory

There are a number of specific rules that apply in many areas of the laboratory. These primarily concern hygiene and order – also in relation to the structure of the work stations. Clean, efficient work calls for optimum spatial organisation. The equipment used must be tailored to these special requirements. With its solutions for standing work in the laboratory, Bimos meets these requirements in all respects - the laboratory standing aids save on space, meet the highest of hygienic requirements and are extremely sturdy. They encourage movement and thus offer the necessary ergonomic support. Laboratory standing aids can even prevent stress situations from arising in the laboratoryfor example, when several samples need to be processed at various workstations within a short space of time. In this case, there can be no lapse in concentration or accuracy, even under time pressure, and this calls for standing aids that offer maximum flexibility. The Labster standing aid from Bimos meets this challenge with, for example, its innovative pendulum base. This encourages a dynamic “sit-stand” position and thus effectively relieves strain on the body. Furthermore, its particularly flexible supporting surface increases the range of movement and provides the user with greater reach for accurate, quick and efficient working results.
